Luna's Rally for Rivers' Experience

Luna's Rally for Rivers’ Experience

Meghna ‘Phoenix’ Ghatak

Rally for Rivers is an ongoing, nationwide awareness campaign addressing the depleting conditions of our rivers by Isha Foundation. Isha Foundation is a nonprofit, spiritual organization, founded in 1992 by Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev in Coimbatore, India. Run entirely by full time and part time volunteers from across the world, the organization kick started this campaign in September 3rd 2017 with massive one month long awareness drive to get six Indian states to sign Memorandums of Understanding (MoU). On October 3rd, 2017, Sadhguru presented a river revitalization draft proposal to Shri Narendra Modi which is now being studied by Niti Ayog and the Ministry of Water Resources.
Hence during the month of September that year, supporters of Isha Foundation did their bit in constituting the amendment in their respective cities. People were given t shirts with the campaign’s logo on it and asked to give missed calls on a particular number to garner more support. To bring forth some innovativeness, I involved my yellow Labrador pup, Luna to the awareness drives by not just donning the shirt myself but also on her. Luna enjoyed long walks so I put on her lease over the t shirt and took her to the walkathon organized by the supporters. Needless to say, she got a lot of media attention. Here are a few glimpses of her ardent support to save the life lines of India – the rivers.

Diary of an Animal Lover

Diary of an Animal Lover Ayushi Sharma Since childhood I have an enormous love for animals. I have had pets all my life which include dogs, parrots, pigeons, rabbits, fish, and even cows. Currently I have two cows, two rescued dogs and more than 40 pigeons. With time I have realized that there has been no greater feeling in the world than saving a life even if it’s one at a time. I was born and brought up in Bhopal, MP and I have loved animals since the day I was born. My brother calls me a naturalist as I have always felt a strong connection with nature and animals. People say that they cannot imagine their world without their phones or Wi-Fi connection but if someone asks me I would say that I cannot imagine a world without animals. For me the life of any other creature is as much important as the life of a human being. People need to understand that animals also feel loneliness, they also get hurt. Once I rescued three dogs and five puppies from a horrible lady who used...

Get Cosy at India’s 2 nd Cat Café in Delhi: Catsville Le Café Meghna ‘Phoenix’ Ghatak If you are a cat person living in Delhi or perhaps visiting Delhi and have time to kill, visit India’s second cat café – Catsville Le Café.   A 15 minute auto ride from Hauz Khas metro station, alighting at Deer Park and then a 10 minute walk will take you to 29 A, where on the 2 nd floor rest tabby cats of all hues.  After paying an entry fee, one has to tackle the escape artists at the door to enter the ‘meow zone’ fitted with mazes and bridges, scratching pads and sleeping pods. Eager noses sniff you closely as you make your way towards the sofas and seats to silently squeal at their multicolored cuteness.   The cats willingly play with the stuffed mice scattered everywhere and enthusiastically chase the spring toys directed by you. While most customers darted around the cats bouncing off the walls, the quietest members of Team Pawcept found solace in petting kitte...

7 Things to Know If You Wear Spectacles and Have a Pet   Let's admit, being optically challenged may not sound like a serious dysfunctionality, especially if you wear less number of diopters on your nose. But to the people who are forced to wear thick concave, convex, cylindrical or bifocal lenses in their less than fancy spectacles, it's a daily struggle none the less. Imagine waking up in the morning, or being in the shower and then not being able to 'see' your own glasses!
